CALL TO ARTISTS
THEME Alive: A (Re)Awakening Experience is the first exhibit at the new Charlotte Art League location! The theme is not mandatory but we encourage artists to submit works that emphasize the experience of being alive or reawakened. It is open to your interpretation!
Note: The reception for this exhibit will be during our Grand Opening Celebration on Saturday November 10 from 6pm-9pm.
ELIGIBILITY All artists are invited to participate.
Join CAL today and receive discounted entry fees throughout the year. General membership is $60 a year. This is NOT a juried show, all entries that meet specification requirements will be accepted. There are no cash or prizes in this exhibit.
ENTRY FEES – Entry fee is non-refundable.
CAL Members: First two (2) entries $25. Additional entries are $6 each. (six entries maximum)
Non-Members: First two (2) entries $35. Additional entries are $15 each. (four entries maximum)
CALENDAR – NOTE: NO late entries will be accepted
Deliver Art Work:
Sunday October 28, 12pm-4pm (during Open Gallery hours)
Monday Oct 29 + Tuesday Oct 30, 10am-2pm (Gallery Closed, please make an appt to drop off art work.
Exhibit will be ready to show by Friday November 3, but the Reception will be Saturday November 10
Last Day of Show: Friday November 30
Pick up exhibited work: Saturday Dec 1 (11am-3pm); Sunday Dec 2 (12pm-4pm); Monday Dec 3 (by appt 10am-2pm)
NOTE: Artwork left for more than 5 days beyond pick up dates will become
property of Charlotte Art League.
SPECIFICATIONS – Please Read
All work must be Your Original Design and Creation and not previously exhibited in a Charlotte Art League judged or juried show. Work from a known copyrighted source will NOT be considered for judging. Only work created in the last three (3) years is eligible. Works on paper must be protected by glass or Plexiglas and framed. All work must be properly framed or gallery wrapped (sides properly finished), and WIRED FOR HANGING. Mats must be neutral, neat and clean. Maximum size for two-dimensional work is 72” in any direction. Maximum weight for two-dimensional work is 25 pounds. All work must be properly wired on the back for hanging with braided wire suited to the weight of the artwork. (D-rings preferred over screw eyes).
Three-dimensional art must not exceed 30”x30”x72” or weigh more than 100 pounds (installation may be required by the artist). Display stands for three-D work must be provided by the artist. Larger pieces may be accepted at the curator’s discretion.
The following will NOT be accepted: giclees, reproductions or copies. NO wet paint or inks. Unacceptable framing includes: string, tape, clip frames and saw-tooth hangers.
Art work may be rejected if we are not able to properly or safely install the work.
SALES AND PRICING: All work must be available for sale. No POR’s (price on request) will be accepted.
CAL will retain 30% Commission on all sales from Members, 35% from Non-members.
