Red: The Power of A Color

Red: The Power of A Color is an expression of the many different ways the color red evokes feeling within the artist. Artists are asked to enter works where red is the dominant color OR plays a noticeable part in the piece.


All artists are invited to participate. This in a non-juried show. Works that do not meet qualification specifications (see below) will not be accepted.

ENTRY FEES  Entry fee is non-refundable.  

CAL Members: First two (2) entries $25. Additional entries are $6 each.  (six entries maximum)

Non-Members: First two (2) entries $35. Additional entries are $15 each. (four entries maximum)

CALENDAR   NO late entries will be accepted

Deliver Art Work  

Friday January 25: 10am-2pm  and

Sunday January 27: 12pm-4pm

First Friday Art Reception

February 1: 6pm-9pm

Last Day of Show

Sunday February 24

Pick up exhibited work

Sun Feb 24 (12pm-4pm), Tuesday Feb 26 (by appt only), or Wed Feb 27 (11am-3pm)

NOTE:  Artwork left for more than 5 days beyond pick up dates will become  property of Charlotte Art League.


All work must be Your Original Design and Creation and not previously exhibited in a Charlotte Art League judged or juried show.  Work from a known copyrighted source will NOT be considered for judging. Works on paper must be protected by glass or Plexiglas and framed.  All work must be properly framed or gallery wrapped (sides properly finished), and WIRED FOR HANGING. Mats must be neutral, neat and clean. Maximum size for two-dimensional work is 72” in any direction. Maximum weight for two-dimensional work is 25 pounds.  All work must be properly wired on the back for hanging with braided wire suited to the weight of the artwork. (D-rings preferred over screw eyes).  

Three-dimensional art exceeding 30”x30”x72” or weighing more than 100 pounds must be approved prior to entry (installation may be required by the artist).  Display stands for three-D work are provided by the Charlotte Art League with prior approval. Larger pieces may be accepted at the curator’s discretion.

The following will NOT be accepted:  giclees, reproductions or copies. NO wet paint or inks. Unacceptable framing includes: string, tape, clip frames and saw-tooth hangers.

Art work may be rejected if we are not able to properly or safely install the work.


All work must be available for sale.  No POR’s (price on request) will be accepted.

CAL will retain 30% Commission on all sales from Members, 35% from Non-members.
