Art Beyond Sight
Third Annual Exhibit
Charlotte Art League hosts an annual exhibit for artists to enter who are either visually impaired or are sighted artists who are inspired to make art for people with no vision or low vision. It is a tactile show and other senses can be employed in the piece. It is art FOR or BY the visually impaired. This show is part of national Art Beyond Sight Awareness Month in October and is an international event. To be listed with major art museums and galleries from Chicago to Paris makes our art league truly world class. CAL has been the only Charlotte organization participating in this annual event and one of only three in North Carolina.
This show is a service to the area citizens who are visually impaired but love art just as much as the rest of us. We invite all to attend and enjoy the exhibit. Many of us lose our vision due to eye diseases and are then cut off from art experiences because of ”Do Not Touch the Art” policies. You could, one day be in this situation. Imagine how much it would mean to you to be able to keep art in your life? Help us provide our fellow art lovers with a chance to enjoy a local exhibit just for them.
Although the Charlotte Art League offers classes to clients of Metrolina Association for the Blind, only some of the art from these students goes into the show. We are looking to all the artists of our area to start a piece for this show now during the summer and have it ready to enter at the end of September.
