“Spring into Art” is a regional juried art competition and exhibition. Artists age 18 and older may enter to compete for $1,000 in cash awards:
First-place award: $500 gift certificate from Binders Art Supplies and Frames;
Second-place award: $250;
Third-place award: $100;
Three merit awards: $50 each.
This is a juried show, so not all work will be accepted. The juror will select work to be exhibited and prizes to be awarded.
Juror: Mana Hewitt
Born in Tucson, Arizona, Mana Hewitt has lived in Florida, Illinois and Great Britain. Her career has been primarily in education; she has been an instructor at Columbia College and the University of South Carolina-Columbia. Presently she is the gallery director of McMaster Gallery and teaches Digital Imaging and Introduction to Art in the Department of Art at USC.
Mana Hewitt’s artworks represent a broad range of media that includes metalworks, painting and jewelry. Her work has been included in over 150 exhibitions and a number of solo and group shows regionally and nationally. She has received Individual Artists Fellowships from both the Cultural Council and the South Carolina Arts Commission. Her work is in the permanent collections of First Citizens Corporate Headquarters, the SCANA Corporation, the Columbia Museum of Art, the South Carolina State Museum, the Spartanburg Museum of Art, the Lieberman Collection, the Federal Reserve Bank, Charlotte, N.C., The Tree of Life Temple, Columbia, S.C., and numerous private collections.

Opening Reception: Friday, April 6, 6:00-9:00 p.m., at First Friday Gallery Crawl; awards presented at 7:00 p.m.
Last Day of Show: Friday, April 27
Artists Pick up Exhibited Work: Saturday, April 28-Sunday, April 29 (during gallery hours)
