Storyteller Karen Abercromie will talk about the African storytelling tradition in detail and will share several of her favorite African tales.
Karen Abercrombie is an award-winning storyteller, actress, singer/songwriter and playwright.
A graduate of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, New York, Karen has performed in numerous Off Broadway productions and has also guest starred on television shows such as “Strong Medicine,” “Judging Amy,” “Ally McBeal,” “Saved By The Bell” and “Days Of Our Lives.” As a member of the Creative Arts Teams out of the University of New York, Karen toured the New York Public School System performing children’s programs that address sensitive issues such as suicide, sexual abuse, divorce and drug and alcohol abuse. She also studied at the University Of Pittsburgh and has an extensive background in child development.
Storytelling has always been a great love of Karen’s. She decided to come mainstream with the “Box Full of Stories” because she found that storytelling allows her to touch her audience in an up close and personal way. She now performs nationwide in schools, museums, festivals, libraries, bookstores, churches and some private functions. Karen has completed a storytelling CD titled, “It’s All In The Telling” which is a mix of Karen’s original stories and multi cultural tales from around the world.
