Charlotte Art League Presents: “Mortar and Brick” a creative competition

Accepting Paintings, Photography, & Mixed Media.
Must be your original work. Deadline for Entries: July 30, 2016

Awards & Prizes!

The purpose of this event is to provide a means to capture the architectural essence and character of Historic South End, prior to demolition and redevelopment. The focus should specifically address the section on Camden Road that includes the Common Market and its surrounding buildings and the Charlotte Art League (CAL) and its surrounding buildings.

Don’t procrastinate taking pictures, painting or whatever medium you work in. Core samples of the earth were collected last week across the street!

Mortar and Brick juried show:
This is a “juried” show, not all entries will be exhibited. Our Jurors will select all art to be exhibited. The Jurors will choose the award(s). CAL will try our best to showcase all submitted pieces depending on how many we receive.

From the artwork juried into this exhibit, selected pieces will be reproduced by CAL honoring the Mortar & Brick that is South End. Selected artwork/photography may also be reproduced by CAL in a limited print run to make images for sale. Any proceeds from the sale of images will be handled as any sale of artwork in the front of the gallery.

There is an artist release of limited reproduction rights you will need to sign.

There will be one gallery show at CAL then it will head down to Spirit Square.

AWARDS: First Prize: $100 / Second Prize: $50

Improv Charlotte is coming to CAL! Every 3rd Saturday, join us at 8pm for the best comedy in town!

Improv Charlotte’s mission is to serve our community through comedy by creating inclusive, family-friendly improv that benefits our neighbors throughout the Charlotte area. Our dedicated team of improvisers use our comedic gifts to bring joy to our fellow humans through both interactive and entertaining performances as well as supporting local charity organizations.
We believe it’s more challenging and therefore more rewarding to create clean comedy that is both intellectually satisfying and laugh-out-loud funny.

Our shows consist of both short and long form improvisation. Nothing is scripted or rehearsed. Everything we do is made up on the spot and inspired by your suggestions.
